Da Nang is launching a major cultural and sports showcase for Vietnam's National Day in August and September 2026, building on a record 12 million visitors welcomed in the first seven months of the year.

Cultural Tourism: Traditional Festivals and Heritage Events

The Da Nang Department of Tourism has announced an extensive event lineup for late August and early September 2026 to celebrate the August Revolution anniversary and Vietnam's National Day. The program connects regional festivals, historical showcases, and sporting events to encourage longer traveler stays and promote central Vietnam's cultural heritage.

Key religious and heritage events include the 2026 Ngu Hanh Son Vu Lan Festival from August 21 to 23, and the Chien Dan Communal House Festival on August 26.

In addition, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum will host a special exhibition from August 26 to September 15. The region is also celebrating Hoi An Creative Week 2026 from August 28 to September 2 at Hoai River Square, alongside the "Non Co" staging of the Hoi An Memories show.

At the UNESCO World Heritage Site of My Son Sanctuary, the "Am vang My Son" (Echoes of My Son) musical program and Cham folk singing will be held on September 2, paired with "Champa Dance" performances at the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.

Sports Tourism and Trade Exhibitions

The city is also integrating major trade fairs and sporting events. The EWEC-Da Nang 2026 trade fair took place from August 12 to 17, followed by Horecfex Vietnam 2026 at the Ariyana Convention Centre on August 20 and 21.

Sports tourism will take center stage with the 2026 Pickleball World Cup at the Tien Son Sports Complex from August 30 to September 6. This international tournament is expected to host nearly 5,000 athletes from 81 countries, generating significant demand for local hotels, transport services, and dining operators.

Ecotourism and Community-Based Projects

Da Nang is expanding its travel offerings to mountain districts. The Co Tu Village Festival at Cong Troi Dong Giang Ecotourism Site, running from August 29 to September 2, will showcase the culture and traditions of the Co Tu ethnic community.

Similarly, the 2026 Dai Binh Tourism Day in Nong Son commune, themed "Dai Binh – Green Destination," will focus on nature-based travel and community integration.

During the holiday period, several local institutions—including the Da Nang Museum, Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, and Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture—will offer free admission to all visitors.

Sustainable Transit and Local Economy Integration

To support local communities, travelers can utilize public bus services or shared electric shuttles to travel between Da Nang, Hoi An, and regional heritage sites. Directing travel spending to locally owned homestays and family-run eateries in Nong Son or the Co Tu village ensures that economic benefits remain within resident families.

Visitors can also purchase authentic handmade textiles directly from Co Tu weavers, supporting the preservation of traditional craft techniques.

Local Insider Travel Strategies

  • Optimal Travel Windows: While the National Day events in August and September offer rich cultural experiences, the shoulder season of late March to April provides dry weather, comfortable temperatures, and lower hotel rates than the peak summer months.
  • Temple Etiquette: When visiting spiritual locations like the Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son) or My Son Sanctuary, dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) and avoid touching ancient brick carvings.
  • Culinary Specialties: Try Mi Quang (turmeric rice noodles with shrimp, pork, and fresh herbs in a rich broth) or Banh Xeo (crispy pancakes wrapped in rice paper with fresh greens).
  • Hidden Gems: Hike the quiet trails of the Son Tra Peninsula early in the morning to see the rare red-shanked douc langurs, or visit the less-frequented Cham ruins of Dong Duong.

Long-Term Outlook for Central Vietnam Tourism

The rapid growth in arrivals—with accommodation providers welcoming more than 12 million visitors in the first seven months of 2026 (a 24.8 percent year-on-year increase)—demonstrates Da Nang's success in diversifying its travel sector. By combining beach vacations with sports events, mountain ecotourism, and UNESCO heritage promotion, the city is building a resilient tourism framework that supports central Vietnam's economy.
