Vineland was designated a temperance community where alcohol sales were prohibited. Landis demanded that land buyers in Vineland construct a house within one year of purchase.
The building was built in 1937 and its first movie was Hats Off. The theater serviced the USO during World War II, and the auditorium was twinned in 1980
The original Palace was visited by more than 250,000 people and remained a Vineland landmark up until the 1960’s.
