Dunwoody, a northern suburb of Atlanta, was established in 2008 as a separate city. European settlement started in the 1830s. The development of the suburb has been steady and slow since then, due in part to Theodore Roosevelt’s use of a railroad line in the 1920s.

Another of Dunwoody’s historical structures, the Spruill Gallery dates back to the 1860s. Each year it hosts four to six major art shows. It also promotes new artists and works that were completed at the onsite education centre.
An artist’s gift shop is also available at the gallery, which is open all year. It is a must-see attraction for all those who are interested in the arts.
Dunwoody Nature Center
Dunwoody Nature Center is a great place to take your children to learn about the environment. Children will enjoy nature camps and classes where they can learn more about science and the environment. The center can also host private events such as birthday parties or other celebrations for children.
Brook Run Park
Brook Run Park is much more than an urban park. Brook Run Park offers a variety of quality leisure activities that will keep everyone happy. The playground is great for younger children, but the skate park will be a hit with teens and older kids.

Donaldson-Bannister Farm
Visit Donaldson-Bannister farm to learn more about Dunwoody’s famous residents. William James Donaldson was the first owner. He was a Civil War soldier. Lois Bannister later took over the house and made it more colonial.
The National Registry of Historic Places lists the house. The large garden is perfect for a long walk. The house and gardens can be rented for events.
