Manufacturing of the new Bullet Train:

The Manufacturing unit of Bullet Train has been set up in The Integral Coach Factory in Chennai(IGF). It has been planned to compete with the highly authoritative Bullet Trains of Japan and France. It is Expected to attain a whopping top speed of 250kmph, which is a great success for India.

Expected Launch Date:

While 89 percent of the land required for the implementation of India’s first high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is complete and 13 of the total 27 contract packages have been awarded, the realization of the project appears to be a distant dream. This project is likely to get completed by 2026 and it was started In 2017.

Routes of the Bullet Train:

Currently, the project has rolled over its routes only through Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) will travel 508.17 km across west India to connect Ahmedabad, the home state of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Mumbai, the commercial center of the state of Maharashtra.

Travel between the two cities will take just two hours instead of the current six hours thanks to the new train, which will use rolling stock based on the 320 kph Japanese Shinkansen E5 series.

The recently proposed east, south, and north corridors will see the operation of the made-in-India bullet trains, which will use more domestic manufacturing and technology.

Capacity of the Bullet Train:

Each high-speed train will initially hold 750 passengers and consist of 10 carriages. With 16 cars, it will be able to hold 1,200 people. Initial projections indicate that 1.6 crore passengers are anticipated to use the bullet train each year. Approximately 1.6 lakh passengers should use the high-speed train every day by 2050.

Features of the Bullet Train:

  • The 508 km bullet train corridor connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad will pass through 348 km of Gujarati territory and 156 km of Maharashtrian territory.
  • 320 km/h will be the bullet train’s operational speed.
  • There will be twelve stops along the high-speed train track. Of these twelve stations, four will be in Maharashtra and eight in Gujarat.
  • Between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, the train will take about 2.07 hours to travel with few stops and 2.58 hours to go with all stops.
  • Four hundred and sixty-five km of the project’s overall length are being constructed via viaduct. There are 10 km of bridges, 7 km of bank, cut, and cover, and 21 km of subterranean space, including 5 km of mountain tunnels and 7 km of underwater space.
  • In addition, the ambitious project includes three rolling stock depots, eight maintenance depots, a HSR training institute in Vadodara, twelve beautifully built stations, and a High Speed Rail Multi Modal Hub Sabarmati.
