World’s 5 Countries With Hardest to Get Visa

Travelling abroad, the first document that you need is a valid passport, which is generally authorized and issued by the country’s Ministry of External Affairs under the Passport Act. And the second required document is a VISA, which is issued by the country where you are travelling.

For instance, the citizens of Japan and Singapore can travel to 192 countries without needed a visa. There are many countries that have lenient visa policies but there are still some countries, like North Korea, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Chad, etc., where it is very difficult to get a visa.

Here we are covering World’s 5 Countries With Hardest to Get Visa recommended by Team NomadLawyer. Though this list is not exhaustive and based on the research by the contributor.

North Korea

North Korea is a country in East Asia. It is the hardest country to get a visa for. The dictatorship of North Korea and the stringent rules for travelers restrict foreigners  from traveling to Kim Jong-un. This country does not approve visas of  South Koreans.

Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is a country in Central Asia. It is bordered by the Caspian Sea and largely covered by the Karakum desert. It is one of the hardest countries to get a visa for.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia, officially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is a country on the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia. It also has very stringent rules to issue a visa.

Health insurance must be purchased from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. And if couples are travelling, then they must have a marriage certificate. This country does not easily allow Israeli travellers, they deny their visas.

China

Chinese Embassies are getting increasingly strict when it comes to visa applications. The Embassy will require a long list of documents including flights in and out of China and a hotel booking confirmation for every night of your stay.

If you’re planning to stay for 30 days or less, they’ll generally issue your visa without any problems. But for stays longer than that (and/or if you’re visiting sensitive areas like Western China), you’ll also need to provide a detailed day by day itinerary of your trip.

Iran

Before submitting a visa application, you will need an authorization code. The authorization is actually a pre-approval by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Iran. Also, it can only be applied through an official travel agency based in Tehran.

US, UK, and Canadian citizens need to hire a guide approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The details of the guide have to be included in the visa application. After you get the authorization, you will need to submit the visa application at the Iran Embassy in person.
