Singapore Intention behind this move
With an emphasis on improving its infrastructure for hospitality and streamlining the visa application procedure, Singapore is getting ready to welcome more than 1.5 million Indian tourists this year. With no precise targets set because of the tremendous tourism potential of the Indian market, the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is hopeful about surpassing pre-epidemic visitor counts despite the hurdles provided by the pandemic. India sent 1.4 million tourists to Singapore in 2019, a figure that increased to 1.1 million in 2023, and is predicted to surpass 2019 figures in 2024.
Initiative taken by Singapore Tourism Board (STB)
The island nation is developing infrastructure to cater to both leisure and business travellers. Approximately 72,000 existing hotel rooms will be supplemented by 9,000 new ones.
In an effort to make travel for Indian visitors more convenient, the STB is developing quick and simple visa applications. An attempt is being made to expedite the visa application procedure, and there are offices in Delhi, Chennai, and Mumbai.
Emphasizing the value of Indian tourists for both leisure and business travel, Singapore is eager to develop economic and bilateral connections with India. IT, biomedicine, fintech, and pharmaceuticals are just a few of the industries where Singapore and India may work together effectively. Large-scale conferences and exhibitions centered on cutting-edge technology are held in Singapore to promote alliances and teamwork in these fields.
For its 5,000-strong Singapore show in June, the APAC edition of NRF anticipates five to ten percent of delegates, according to Ryf Quail, managing director of the international retail event that takes place in New York every year.
