Beginning in 2024, the Subclass 192 – Pacific Engagement visa will provide up to 3000 permanent slots per year for nationals of the aforementioned Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste, as well as their immediate family members. This programme, which is an expansion of Australia’s current permanent migration policy, is anticipated to help the country’s Pacific diaspora expand.

On October 19, 2023, the Australian government passed immigration legislation to help with the PEV’s implementation. The law permits candidates for the new immigration programme to be chosen through a voting process.

Applicants must fulfil the following requirements in order to be eligible for the PEV:

  • Chosen at random using the PEV voting
  • Between the ages of 18 and 45
  • Have a formal offer of employment in Australia
  • Comply with additional visa criteria, such as character references, health tests, and English language skills.
