Stone Wood Homestay Solitude In Shimla
The story goes like this: I was on my way back from my Kinnaur sojourn and decided to stay in Shimla for a day after a strenuous road trip. I called Mr. Anil Attri, from The Traveller Trails magazine and my guide in the Himachal region.
If you wish to know more about The Traveller Trails magazine:

I asked him, “Bhai, can you arrange a place for me to stay for a day in Shimla”. He without any hesitation gave me the number of Ishu Thakur, owner of Stone Wood bread and breakfast. Ishu also contributes to the Traveller Trails magazine, he is a talented photographer and also works for the society in the Himachal Region. I called Ishu for the accomodation, he said, “bhai, Anilji has already informed me about your stay, and you are most welcome to stay at Stone Wood Homestay and please feel at home”.
He guided me the route over the phone and atlast I reached his beautiful homestay. He was waiting at the gate to welcome us and guided us to our rooms. I must admit the place is at the heart of Shimla but away from the humdrum and the cacophony of the Shimla town in the vicinity of a forested and secluded area. That’s why I highly recommend this place and if you are looking for solitude, Stone Wood Homestay is really worth exploring.

Next morning, we went for a short hike which was really rejuvenating. We will do a detailed blog on this jungle trail in a subsequent blog. Thanks Ishu Thakur, for the unmatchable hospitality, we really felt at home.

Himachali Cuisine Served
Our state, apart from being blessed with breathtaking natural beauty, is also a tasteful blend of exquisite pahari cuisine. Any travelling experience, however, is incomplete without tasting the authentic cuisine of Himachal Pradesh. Himachali or pahari cuisine has a unique aroma as well as flavor to it due to the use of a lot of yogurt and cardamom and cooking on slow flame. Thick and rich gravy, with aromatic spices, is used in abundance as the base of many dishes.
Stone Wood serves authentic, scrumptious and lip smacking pahari food for you to enjoy and imprint on your minds. Its diverse flavours and unique dishes are packed with the thrill of discovering a relatively unknown cuisine.
Himachali Products
Stone Wood is founded with a vision of promoting traditional and ethnic handicrafts and handmade products from Himachal Pradesh.
We are dealing in hand woven shawls, stoles, mufflers, scarfs, gloves, caps, bags and handicraft items like handmade pine needle boxes, buckets etc. All these handicraft items are made by various SHGs and local artisans who inherit this art from their ancestors of Himachal Pradesh.
We are also dealing in locally processed food items such as dry and dehydrated fruits like apples, peach, pears, apricot, plum etc.
Also we have locally made fruit jams, oils, pickles, incense sticks, handmade soaps etc.
Stone Wood also provides ample parking facilities to the guests which is sometimes difficult to find in Shimla city.
