Mori is a village in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state. This famous tourist destination is located at an altitude of 3700 feet above sea level. This place is located on the banks of Tons River in Jaunsar Bawar region.

Tons River is also known as Tamas River and this place is also known as the entrance of Tons Valley. According to a legend, this river is formed from the tears of Bhubruvahana, the mythological character of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

The villagers believe that its tears still flow in the river, so they never drink the water of this river. However, some people also believe that this river is formed by the tears of Shurpanakha, a mythological character of the epic Ramayana.

The residents of this region around Mori consider the Kauravas and Pandavas as their ancestors. He was the legendary Kshatriya and emperor of the Hindu epic Mahabharata.

The residents here worship the Kauravas, the villains of the Hindu epic. Duryodhana’s temple located in Jakhol village is a famous place of worship here. This temple, the eldest among the Kauravas, is dedicated to Duryodhana. It is believed that this temple was built by the residents of Saura village.

The area is an ideal place for camping as the place is surrounded by lush green pine trees. It is counted among the best tourist destinations in Asia.
