Travel Attractions – North Decatur, Georgia

Decatur Georgia, the county seat of DeKalb County is located in Georgia. It is located eight kilometres from downtown Atlanta, which it can be considered as the Georgia capital. Decatur, despite being close to Atlanta, is a modern and progressive city. It retains a small-town feel. It was not always this way.

The area was an undeveloped forest two hundred years ago, and it was the location for the 1822 country courthouse. This means that there are many historic structures to be admired, Decatur being home to five distinct historic districts. The excellent location of the city means that there are plenty of things to do.

Woodlands Garden

Decatur’s Woodlands Garden is a 3.2-hectare park that provides urban sanctuary to the residents. This largely wooded area is home to more than 30 tree species and many native plants. Chet and Gene Morse’s idea, the land where the park is located was donated to the city by the early 2000s in order to protect it from any future construction.

They ensure that there is an area for plants from Georgia Piedmont at the heart of the city through their thoughtfulness in opening their gardens up to the public.
