Tellus Science Museum
Tellus is a 120,000 sq. ft. science museum in Cartersville, north of Atlanta. Tellus Science Museum is an affiliate museum of Smithsonian Institute. It contains four galleries: Fossil Gallery (Science in Motion Gallery), Fossil Gallery (Wilhelm Mineral Gallery), and My Big Back Yard (Science in Motion Gallery). Red Top Mountain State Park
You can cool off in the summer by swimming at the sand beach, which is located in a cove surrounded with trees.
This popular park is perfect for waterskiing, fishing and swimming. Boats can be rented from local marinas or brought by the visitors. Picnic shelters or group shelters are available for rent to host parties, reunions, or other celebrations. In the park, there are yurts at the lakeside that can be rented for guests to stay over night. Red Top Mountain is most well-known for its 12,000-acre lake.
However, it’s also a popular hiking destination. The park has more than 15 miles of trails, which offer opportunities for nature photography and exercise. The park office offers a short, paved trail that can be walked or pushed by a wheelchair. This allows visitors to tour a 1860s-era homestead.
The iron hill trail, which runs for 4 miles, is open to bikers and hikers. Iron pour programs may be held at the Vaughn Cabin located behind the park offices.

Pine Mountain Recreation Area
Pine Mountain Recreation Area now has a link to the US Army Corps of Engineers Cooper’s Furnace Trail.
Pine Mountain has two loops that connect it: East Loop and West Loop. This hike is challenging and steep, reaching 1,562 feet above sea-level. The summit of this mountain will take you to the highest point in Cartersville. This land is one of the 13,000 acres that were originally home to Mark Anthony Cooper’s Iron Empire.
It is open for hiking every day. Mountain biking is permitted on Wednesdays and Saturdays on the East Loop. For those days, mountain bikers are required to wear helmets and follow icon-directional signs. East Loop Directions – I-75 to Exit 292, east on GA Highway 20. Turn right at the traffic light onto GA Spur 20. Continue approximately four miles.
You will find the East Loop Trailhead parking area and access to it just past Bartow Beach Road. Directions to West Loop: I-75 Exit 288, east onto Main Street. Turn right at the end and you will find the West Loop Trailhead Access and Parking Area on your left.

Bartow History Museum
The museum is conveniently located near shops and restaurants in the renovated 1869 Courthouse building.
Immerse yourself in history! The Bartow History Museum, located in Cartersville’s historic center, demonstrates the past and present history of Georgia’s Bartow County. You can see exhibits covering 200 years worth of history. They include Cherokee habitation from the 1800s (pre-Bartow County), and events that shaped the region.

Cooper's Furnace Day Use Area
You can park your car in the lot, and you are not allowed to bring your trailer.
Coopers Furnace Day Use Park can be accessed seasonally. It is located on the north bank of Etowah River. You can also see the dam from this park. Pettit Creek Farms
You can play on the open fields, have picnic tables under the oaks and enjoy the Petting Zoo.
Nestled in the North Georgia foothills, is the largest Georgia-based camel herd. In addition to camels and common farm animals, the farm also hosts exotic animals such as giraffes. Open for tours from January through August, our working farm is also open. A Country Christmas and Pumpkin Fest are two of our annual farm celebrations.
They open Thanksgiving at 6 PM and continue through December 30. We host many events throughout the year. Everybody is welcome, no matter how small or large. But the best part is the Hayride Tour.
