Hudson Beach Glass Inc

Howland Cultural Center

The Howland Cultural Center is a must-see for anyone who loves the arts. Joseph Howland, a Civil War general, designed this beautiful Beacon, NY building in 1872. It was built in the style of a New England summer home and incorporates elements of Norwegian Gothic architecture. It is also equipped with a geothermal heating system that makes it one the few remaining in the Beacon region. Main Street is home to the Howland Cultural Center.

It was formerly called the Howland Library. The building was opened to the public by Richard Morris Hunt, Howland’s brother in law. It was built with generous donations from local benefactors. Beacon Flea Market

The Beacon Flea Market is a paradise for treasure hunters. Every Sunday, the streets are bustling with vendors selling goods from local artists and small businesses. Mount Gulian Historic Site

Beacon’s Main Street is lined with trendy shops and modern art, but there is still a little bit of living history. The Mount Gulian Historic Site, which is located in New Amsterdam’s colonial homestead of Verplanck, was established in 1634. Mount Gulian, which was built in 1730 overlooking the Hudson River was occupied continuously by the Verplanck family for over 300 years.
