Must read

Travel to Brick, New Jersey

Brick Township, New Jersey. The 2020 United States Census showed that the township had a population 73,620. This makes it the 13th largest municipality in the state and third in Ocean County.

Brick Township’s majority is on the mainland. However, Ocean Beaches I to III, II and III, are located on the Barnegat Peninsula. Brick Township was created as a township in the New Jersey Legislature by an act of February 15, 1850. It was formed from parts of Dover Township (now Toms River Township and Howell Township). The Brick township was named for Joseph Brick, who owned Bergen Iron Works on the Metedeconk River. Voters rejected a referendum in 1963 that would have changed the name of the township to “Laurelton”.

The Havens Homestead Museum honors the Havens family who settled in Brick’s Laurelton/Burrsville area. The original Havens home, which is located on a small piece of farmland, is now the museum. There is a gift shop, and daily tours of the property are offered by the museum.
