Cattus Island County Park
The Cattus Island County Park covers approximately 530 acres and has seven miles of hiking trails. Some of these trails lead to Barnegat Bay or the beach. The Cooper Environmental Center is also located in the park. It offers a variety of hands-on exhibits and displays for all ages, including live fish and reptile collections, a children’s activity corner and bird viewing areas, habitat tunnels and trees, as well as displays of live birds and reptiles. The center also highlights Barnegat Bay’s natural beauty. The Cattus Island County Park also has a butterfly garden.

Ocean County Library
The Ocean County Library is an integral part of Toms River’s community. It supports economic development, sustainable communities and lifelong learning. The Ocean County Library is located on the New Jersey Shore and hosts many events throughout the year. It also provides free internet access for the public and around 500 computers. The library has more than one million volumes. This includes print books, magazines, audio books and e-books. It also contains music, videos, games, DVDs, music, and local history materials. Online learning and research is possible through many databases.
Insectropolis and the Bugseum of New Jersey
Insectropolis is also known as “Bugseum of New Jersey”, a unique attraction that allows visitors to see thousands of exotic, bizarre, and beautiful insects from all over the globe. Other activities at the “bugseum” include pretending to be termites and crawling through a tube of mud, as well as playing bugs on the facility’s touchscreen computers. Visitors can observe live insects including the Insectropolis observation hive. They also have the opportunity to participate in daily touch presentations that include millipedes or tarantulas.

Toms River Brewing Company
New Jersey’s Irish population is a significant part of its population. Toms River, which may be the largest Irish-speaking community in the state, is home to some of the most prominent Irish residents. The Rinn Duin Brewery is the home of Toms River Brewing, which is well-known for its UK and Irish ales. Jim Mulligan purchased the brewery in 2018 and started his vision for a variety of beer styles. He also added natural extracts to the beer and expanded the selection of hops and yeast. The Tap Room at Toms River Brewing can be found open Wednesday through Sunday.

Jay & Linda Grunin Centre for the Arts
The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts, located on the Ocean County College campus in Toms Rivers, is dedicated to providing entertainment and art for the Jersey Shore and Ocean County. This performing arts center hosts world-class performers and allows guests to enjoy “once in a lifetime performances” by renowned entertainers, local musicians, and revered artists in a intimate setting. The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts also includes an Art Gallery and fine arts and performing arts programs, educational organizations, and an Orchestra-in-Residence, which is the Garden State Philharmonic.

Ocean County Historical Museum
The Ocean County Historical Society manages the Ocean County Historical Museum. It was founded in 50 during the centennial celebrations of Ocean County. Dr. Joshua Hilliard and other residents had a strong desire for the preservation and collection of local history. The museum is located in a Victorian home in Toms River. It offers guided tours with docents every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The guided tours of Ocean County Historical Museum are completely free.

Ocean County Mall
Ocean County Mall, Toms River, New Jersey, is a “superregional mall”. It was first opened in July 1976. The Ocean County Mall is located off New Jersey’s Garden State Parkway, at Exit 82, down Route 37 East. It is the county’s sole enclosed mall and is anchored Macy’s JCPenney and Boscov’s. Simon Property Group owns the mall. It is a popular spot for tourists visiting the area in summer. The mall also has several restaurants, including Bahama Breeze, Applebee’s and BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.
Exit 82 Theatre Company
The Exit82: A Toms River Theatre Company was founded in 2009 in New Jersey as a non-profit performing art organization. The company’s mission is to produce high-quality theatrical programming and create an environment that encourages artistic development. Exit 82: a Toms River Theatre Company also operates the Creative and Performing Art Academy. This academy was created to train the next generation of artists. Exit 82 puts on a wide range of theatre performances throughout the year.
