The San Gabriel Valley

The San Gabriel Valley, is one of the major valleys in Southern California. It lies east of Los Angeles. The San Gabriel River flows southward through the San Gabriel Valley. Its name derives from the Spanish Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, originally constructed in the Whittier Narrows of 1771.

Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, a Californian mission, is an historic landmark in San Gabriel. It was established by the Franciscan Franciscans on September 8, 1771. This mission was the fourth of twenty-one Spanish missions that would be built in California.

El Molino Viejo

El Molino Viejo (also known as The Old Mill) is an old grist mill located in San Rafael Hills, California. It was built by Father Jose Maria de Zalvidea, a member of the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel, in 1816. It is the oldest building commercial in Southern California and one of the ten first sites to be included on the National Register of Historic Places. The recognition was received in 1971.

Arroyo Seco Parkway

One of the oldest freeways in America is the Arroyo Seco Parkway. Also known as the Pasadena Freeway. It links Los Angeles and Pasadena along the Arroyo Seco seasonal stream. It is notable for its early opening in 1940 and for being the transitional phase between modern freeways and early parkways.
