What we have in store

Photography Tour 2021, Pangi and Lahaul Valley in Himachal Pradesh, is especially for the travellers, who love photography and like to capture raw nature and yearning to explore unique cultures. Pangi and Lahaul Valley are one of the off-beat challenging tourism destinations in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Towering snow-capped mountains, beautiful valleys, gushing river, flowery meadows, and forests ensures that there is no lack of photography subjects here. We will start our journey from Chamba and culminate at Manali covering Sach Pass, Sural Bhatori, Hudan Bhatori and Shinku La. Come join us in this adventurous journey and don’t miss the opportunity to stand out.

Day 01: Arrival Chamba

The tour begins in the second half of the day, though we may arrive at any hour depending on our transport plan. It is a day to relax and spend leisurely. We recommend that you arrive early, so that you have time to explore the millennium old town which is famous for its stone temples. A leisurely evening in Chamba Chaugan also gives us an opportunity to break the ice and get to know each other. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02: Chamba – Bairagarh (95 kms/5-6 hrs) 

We checkout from our hotel after breakfast and make our way towards Bairagarh in Churah valley. Bairagarh is the last big village on approach to Sach Pass that connects Chamba with Pangi Valley. This is also the first big village shepherds reach after crossing Cheni Pass from Pangi Valley. Devi Kothi,11 kms from Bairagarh is famous for its wooden temple. The tiny temple is a grand welcome to the visitors. A temple certainly of Mughal influence made by Raja Umed Singh in 1754, later dedicated to Goddess Durga Devi depicts the wall paintings of her exploits and themes of Bhagavata Purana. Overnight at hotel/homestay at Bairagarh.

Day 03: Bairagarh – Sural Bhatori (90 kms/7-8 hrs)

After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and drive to Killar Sub Divisional Headquarter of remote Pangi Valley. 3 kms before Killar we will take left turn and continue our journey for Sural Bhatori. There are some surprise stopovers, including famous Sach Pass, Bhagotu and some interesting photography opportunities await you during the journey! Perched at an altitude of 4420m Sach Pass lies on the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas and offers splendid views of snow-capped mountains and deep valleys. Overnight at rest house/homestay at Sural Bhatori.

Day 04 & 05: Sural Bhatori (Photography sessions)

Day 4 & 5 are reservered for photography sessions at Sural Bhatori. Sural Bhatori is a very beautiful valley located at the elevation of 10,000  feet above the mean sea level and is the last village of the valley. (Bhatori is a tribe of Upper Himalaya who worship of Lord Budha). One km from Sural Bhatori is a beautiful waterfall and a trek towards Zanskar Himalayas. The valley is known as trekker’s paradise. The gompa of Sural Bhatori is surrounded by Betula (Bhojpatra) patch and the valley is dominated by a dense patch of bhojpatra forest on one side. Sural Bhatori is also famous for its beautiful flora. We spend out day exploring the valley with our team leader and learn many techniques essential for landscape photography. Overnight stay at rest house/ homestay at Sural Bhatori.

Day 06: Sural Bhatori – Hudan Bhatori (44 Kms/2-3 hrs)

Hudan Valley is located at a distance of 13 km upstream Mahlu nalla consist of many villages. There is a small lake and camping site near Hudan Bhatori. There is also a gompa in Hudan Bhatori and shiv temple in Shiv Dhar three km from Bhatori. The valley is known for mild trekking and is known for the variety of rare medicinal plants. We will explore the valley and stop at different photographic locations for the photography sessions. Overnight stay at rest house/ homestay at Hudan Bharori or Killar.

Day 07: Hudan Bhatori – Keylong (145 Kms/7-8 hrs)

After breakfast we will head towards Keylong, Sub Divisional Headquarter of Lahaul Valley.Chandrabhaga river will follow us entire the journey. The route is considered to be one of the treacherous roads in the world. There are many short halts including Udaipur for capturing beautiful views of gushing river, mountains and deep valleys. Overnight stay at hotel/homestay at Keylong.

Day 08: Keylong – Shinku La – Keylong (66 Kms one way/3-4 hrs)

We will start early in the morning after breakfast for Shinku La (5091m). This pass is located on the border of Himachal and Ladakh. There is a shallow lake just below the pass. The pass connects Zanskar and Lahaul valley. Motorable road to Shinku La is recently consturcted by BRO. Overnight stay back at hotel/homestay at Keylong.

Day 09: Keylong – Manali (70 Kms/3 hrs)

After breakfast checkout from hotel and drive to Manali via Atal Rohtang Tunnel. At a length of 9.02 km, it is the longest tunnel above 10,000 feet in the world. Afternoon checkin at a hotel in Manali. Rest of the day is free for leisure and exploring tourist hot spots of Manali. Overnight at hotel in Manali.

Day 10: Manali Drop

Checkout from Hotel and drop at Manali Volvo stand or Bhuntar Airport for onward journey. Or Chandigarh drop as per the participant’s request on mutually negotiable rates with the logistical provider. With this tour, every photography enthusiast on the tour will go back with beautiful images in their camera and a lot of experiential learning.
