Allaire State Park

The park is maintained and operated by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and forms part of the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route. Allaire Village, a 19th-century ironworks that has been restored on park grounds, is a highlight of the park. It was named for James P. Allaire who founded the Howell Works on the same site. Pine Creek Railroad, a tourist railway, is also located in the park.

Lake Carasaljo was formed in the mid-1700s by the South Branch of Metedeconk River being dammed to power a sawmill. This became Three Partners Mill. In 1865, the lake received its current name when Bricksburg was renamed from Bergen Iron Works. Lake Carasaljo was named after Joseph Woolston Brick, the Bergen Iron Works owner, and Brick Township, New Jersey.
