OVERVIEW
Hampta pass trek, it is considered best and convenient of all treks in Himachal Pradesh. It might not be the most adrenalin rush giving or the most sought after trek, but definitely, it is a trek that will leave you in awe of this beautiful place.
The variation among the trek is enormous; scenic landscapes, open green pastures and meadows, glacial valleys, easy access and an exceptional, adventurous and hair-raising crossing of the pass makes the trekking expedition very exciting.
The nearest station is Manali. Therefore, the trip starts from Manali to Chika via Jobra. From Jobra we start the trek. This route comprises the first day. Balu ka Ghera is reached on the second day enroute crossing Jwara Nallah on this day. The third-day destination is Shea Goru from Balu Ka Ghera via Hampta Pass. You will encounter amazing and huge glaciers, cornice formation and snows all the way along.
The maximum altitude will be reached on this day i.e. 14, 100 ft. Day four will start from Shea Goru and end up in Chatru. It is a steady descent on this day.You will witness the valleys of Lahual and Spiti and the mountain ranges of Pir panjal.

Day 01: Drive from Manali to Jobri & Trek from Jobri to Chika. Approx 02 – 03 hours trek
We will start our drive from Manali to Jobra, the starting point of the Hampta Pass Trek. The drive takes around two hours through villages like Panduropa, Hampta etc and check post of Allan Duhangan Hydro Power Project. Jobri is the starting point of the trek where our trek leader will brief you about the dos and don’ts during the trek and safety instructions. The initial part of the trek is through the thick forest of Walnut, Oak, Maple trees and then trek for some time alongside the river. After crossing the river over wooden bridges, after that, there is a little climb and you will reach the camp Chika. Relax at camp and savor your taste buds with a yummy hot lunch prepared by our team.

Day 2: Trek from Chika to Balu Ka Gera. Approx trek for 04 hours
After morning exercise we will have our breakfast and start the trek for today’s camp Balu Ka Gera. After crossing the stream the trek is of gradual ascent till Jwara Nala and crossing Jwara Nullah with barefoot is an experience in itself. After crossing it relax for some time and trek for another hour to reach our camp Balu Ka Gera.

Day 3: Trek from Balu Ka Gera to Sia Goru via Hampta Pass. Approx 7 hours trek
Today is the toughest and most spectacular stretch of the entire trek after reaching upper Balu Ka Gera the steep ascent of Hampta Pass begins and it takes around 3 to 4 hours to reach the top of the Hampta Pass. The views of snow capped peaks and glaciers will take your breath away, especially the sight of Mt Indrasan which is visible from the top of the pass. After crossing Hampta Pass it’s a steep descent and then treks for another half an hour and you will reach Sia Goru camp.

Balu ka Ghera to Siagoru, Crossing (Hampta Pass)

First 1 hour is gradual ascent then Steep ascent till the pass
Packed lunch at the pass, enjoy the view of Indrasan peak
Around 2 hours of steep descent and 1 hours of flat walk from the Pass to camp sight.

Day 4: Trek from Sia Goru to Chatru. Approx 05 hours trek
This day is the easiest one, we have an easy descent in Lahaul and Spiti Valley all the way up to Chatru. Chatru is a small place on Manali Kaza road with few restaurants. The massive mountains of the Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges dominate the entire landscape till the campsite at Chatru. Chatru is a confluence point of paths from Rohtang Pass, Hampta Pass, and Spiti. From Chatru if road and weather conditions permit we head to the Chandra Tal and return to our camp at Chatru.

Day 5: Chatru to Manali (drive)
A ride back from the Chatru camp site to Manali is scheduled for day 5. After this 7 hour journey full of mellow reminisces of the hills, you will be reaching Manali in the evening. An overnight journey after 06:00 pm to Delhi will hopefully work out best.
