Forest Park is located in Georgia’s Clayton County. It is located nine miles south-east of downtown Atlanta. It was founded in 1908 and is located immediately east of Atlanta’s main airport Hartsfield-Jackson International.

Reynolds Nature Preserve

Reynolds Nature Preserve is located approximately three miles from Forest Park. The preserve covers almost 150 acres and was created to protect the native forest in Morrow. There are many things to do in the Heritage Garden, including exploring the wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows, and heritage garden.

They have something for everyone. The preserve also contains several structures from civil war era, including the Huie Barn built in 1867, which points to the preserve’s original purpose.

Spivey Hall

Spivey Hall was named after its benefactors who were prominent real estate developers in the region. It is located on Clayton State University’s Morrow campus, next to Swan Lake. It is a well-respected concert hall that has been viewed as an international leader thanks to its broadcasts on radio and online of regular performances of classical and jazz music.

This 500-seat auditorium was built in the early 1990s to house the Spivey Hall Children’s Choir as well as the Young Artists group. It also included the construction and dedication of the Albert Schweizer 4,400 pipe organ memorial. It was made in Padua in Italy and named after Dr. Albert Schweizer, a Bach lover.

Constitution Lakes

Constitution Lakes are located just 6 miles of Forest Park to Starlight Drive-in. The Constitution Lakes, like many lakes in the area, are artificially created. However, this does not diminish their beauty. Constitution Lakes were actually created from the quarries of brick-makers.

Delta Flight Museum

Although it is not in Forest Park (located 6.2 miles of Forest Park), the Delta Flight Museum can be found just a short distance from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’s northern side. It is located less than six miles away from downtown Forest Park. The museum is a great introduction to Atlanta’s business industry. It makes use of two historic hangars from the 1940s.

The museum’s name suggests that it is a museum that focuses on Delta Airlines’ history. It has been flying passengers since the very beginning of powered flight. You can see this by visiting the museum. Hangars offer plenty of space for historic aircraft to be displayed, including small six-seaters and a 767 called Spirit of Delta.

Clayton County International Park

Clayton County may seem odd to be home to an “international park”. This green space was created outside Jonesboro as a result the 1996 Summer Olympic Games. Atlanta hosted the games and the park was built to host the beach volleyball competition.

It was given to the local residents as a permanent and lasting legacy of the games after the games. It is obvious that the sand beaches and the water slides in the theme park are big draws. The park is located just 20 minutes from Forest Park.

SkyView Atlanta

You can’t do worse than to head a few blocks toward SkyView Atlanta via the Fairlie-Poplar District from the Krog Street Tunnel. (This one is located 13.2 miles from Forest Park).This district features a variety of architectural styles that date back to the 19th and 20th centuries. They also demonstrate the evolution from brick and timber into steel and concrete.

SkyView Atlanta’s views are even more spectacular because the Ferris wheel rises up to 20 stories high. As the gondolas slow circle, you can see many of Atlanta’s most iconic landmarks, including the Centennial Olympic Park next door.

Krog Street Tunnel

Atlanta’s Krog Street Tunnel is located at (13.4 miles) a similar distance north of Forest Park. A road tunnel is not something we would normally consider one of the most exciting things to do. The Krog Street Tunnel is a haven for street artists from the region. The concrete columns and supports of the columnar supports are nearly completely covered in graffiti.
