Since foodporn is the new addiction. Celebrity chefs are gaining popularity around the globe. When it comes to Malaysian food, we have a royal gem. Fauzi Osman a Malysian celebrity chef has a royal bloodline from North Malaysia and he is a celebrated food artist. His Malaysian fusion inventions are a treat for all senses. Being a globe trotter he has gathered out worldly flavors on the platter.
Meet Fauzi Osman, a very colorful person who wears different hats. He hails from Penang Malaysia, he was a musician from 1985 – 1995 and played with local bands in Malaysia and Philippines. Currently, he works as a Consultant and teaches Malaysian recipes in the famous JOM JOM Malay restaurant in Delhi, India.

When inflation set in during 1995, he moved to New York City and started working with a restaurant as a “Bus Boy”, his work included working in the restaurant and catering industry clearing tables, taking dirty dishes to the dishwasher, setting tables, refilling and otherwise assisting the waiting staff.
After a year experience on the floor. The Chef in the restaurant asked him to work in the kitchen and he became a kitchen helper. It was then he gradually learnt cooking and then he unearthed his expertise in cooking and was exposed to different cuisines.
After, 9/11 attack, he shifted from New York. He met his wife in New York and got married there. His wife is from Melaka, Malaysia. She works in the Embassy.
He is also a Globetrotter, he learnt cooking in Brazil, worked in Holland, Czech Republic and many other places. At different places he gained experience in different cuisines. He also has gained expertise in creating fusion delicacies.
Currently, in India, he aspires to gain knowledge in Kashmiri, North Indian and North-Eastern cuisine.
He ultimately plans to settle in Melaka, Malaysia where he will engage in organic farming and wishes to start a small restaurant. Hope your dream comes true. I will surely visit Malaysia to meet you then.
I met Fauzi Osman, in Jom Jom restaurant at Ansal Plaza, Delhi. We struck a conversation over Malaysian food. He was surprised to see my knowledge in Malaysian local cuisine. I told him, ” I have been to Malaysia and also wrote a blog in this beautiful country. I am totally in love with Malaysian food.”
