Buffalo has seen a huge revitalization in recent years. It now boasts beautiful public spaces along the waterfront and in the center of the city. The Buffalo Metro Rail is an elevated train that provides free service to stops in downtown and Canalside.
Darwin D. Martin House
The Darwin D. Martin House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright is a must-see attraction in Buffalo. This house is located in a beautiful residential area at the border of Delaware Park. It is one of Wright’s most significant accomplishments during the first half his career.
This complex includes six interconnected buildings and was built between 1903-1905. It is now a National Historic Landmark. Although some of the buildings were demolished, extensive restoration and reconstruction over the past 20 years has brought the property back into existence. These efforts are ongoing.
All visitors must tour the house with a guide.

Canalside
Canalside is an area in downtown Buffalo that has been revitalized. It runs along the canal and allows tourists and locals to relax and enjoy some entertainment.
This area was once the terminus of the 1825 Erie Canada. It includes a park with Adirondack chairs, benches and benches that look out over the canal and a walkway running along the water’s edge. You can view the full schedule online in advance. A huge outdoor skating rink in the vicinity is constructed each winter.
Harborcenter is located on one side. It has shops and restaurants. The KeyBank Center hockey arena is in the other. Canalside can be docked at your boat if you arrive by boat.

Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens
Olmsted’s South Park covers 155 acres and is home to over 2000 trees and plants. It was created in late 1800s. The park’s centerpiece is the 1894 Victorian-style tri-domed glass conservatory, built in the Victorian style. It was originally constructed for the 1900 Pan American Exposition. This unique combination of glass, steel, and wood was inspired by the Crystal Palace in England and the Kew Gardens Palm House.
Indoor gardens feature a restored palm dome and fern house. Highlights year-round include the orchid house and bromeliad houses, herb collection, waterfall, and herb collection. While some plants are native to the region, most are found in tropical or subtropical parts of the world.

Forest Lawn Cemetery
Forest Lawn was established in 1849 and covers 250 acres. It feels more like a park, with mature trees and water features and beautiful walking paths. The cemetery is especially beautiful in the fall. It is also the final resting spot of many celebrities. Notable sites include the Blocher Memorial, and the President Fillmore gravesite.

Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park
The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, located along the Buffalo Canal, is home to the guided missile cruiser USS Little Rock, destroyer USS The Sullivans, and submarine USS Croaker.
It is possible to see how submariners and mariners lived their patriotic duties. The museum displays a range of aircraft and other artifacts in addition to the ships.
The Maritime Simulator is a particularly fascinating exhibit. This hands-on exhibit will allow you to experience the thrill of being at the helm a large ship.

Albright-Knox Art Gallery
The Albright-Knox Gallery, located in Delaware Park, is a striking Greek Revival building that houses a strong collection modern and contemporary art. The post-war American and European art scene is particularly notable with names like Gorky, Pollock and Warhol.
Notable are also works by 19th-century Impressionists or Post-Impressionists. These include Renoir, van Gogh and Degas. The collection also includes works from artists like Picasso, Matisse and O’Keeffe, among others.

Delaware Park & the Buffalo Zoo
Delaware Park is a great asset to Buffalo. It has wide open spaces, tree-lined walking paths and jogging trails, as well as tennis and golf options.
The Buffalo Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in the park. You will find a variety of animals at the zoo, including gorillas, Indian rhinoceros and polar bears, as well as tigers and many other animals.
The Delta Sonic Heritage Farm, a replica 1850s farm that features heritage breeds, is where you can touch the animals. It also houses a large collection of amphibians and reptiles.

Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site
Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site marks the place where Theodore Roosevelt took his oath on September 14, 1901. This museum has displays that tell the story of this historic moment in history. The museum is only accessible by guided tours.
You can find the site at the northern end of downtown. It is just a few blocks from the Buffalo Metro Rail.

Burchfield Penney Art Center
This Buffalo landmark is a cultural icon and home to the largest collection of Charles E. Burchfield’s works. You’ll find a large collection of artworks from the Buffalo/Niagara area, in addition to Burchfield’s works.
16 galleries showcase art in a variety of mediums. The Charles Cary Rumsey Gallery, which showcases 3D art works, is one of the highlights.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center
Shea’s Performing Arts Center can be described as a fine example among the great movie palaces of that era. Built in Classic style, the center features a Neo-Spanish Baroque Interior. Notable features include the marble-lined grand lobby and ornate chandeliers.
The Shea Theater was designed by George Rapp and Cornelius. The Shea Theater is a National Historic Landmark. Tours of the magnificent facility are available by appointment only. Frank Sinatra and the Marx Brothers were just a few of the many great performers to grace this stage.

St. Joseph’s Cathedral
This cathedral in Buffalo’s downtown area is a Gothic-Revival style structure. It was built under the direction of Bishop John Timon who was the first bishop in Buffalo.
Hook and Hastings Organs, which were installed in the cathedral in 1877, are also found here. It’s worth visiting the cathedral’s interior if you are an architect.

Sahlen Field
Sahlen Field was formerly Coca-Cola Field and is now home to the Buffalo Bisons minor-league baseball team. The baseball stadium was built in 1988 and has a maximum capacity for 19,500. In 2018, the facility was renamed.
Liberty Building
Alfred Bossom designed the Liberty Building, located downtown Buffalo. It was constructed in 1925. This Neoclassical office tower, which was the largest in Buffalo at the time, was designed by Alfred Bossom. It still stands out today. The Main Place Liberty Group owns the Liberty Building, which is 23 stories high.
